Has anyone ever played a practical joke on you? Have you ever carried out a practical joke on somebody else? Please describe the situation. If neither of these situations pertain to you, describe a practical joke that you would like to play on somebody.

What is the best way to watch a movie? Is it at home or at a movie theater? Describe both experiences and then explain why you prefer one over the other.

Do you think students should be allowed to have cell phones in school? Do you think they should be allowed to have them in class? Do you feel that they disrupt learning? Why or why not? Explain.

Day 2

Bellwork 1

Many famous people are honored by the government by having their face placed on a postage stamp. Think of a famous person who should be on a postage stamp. Write an argument as to why this person deserves to be honored.

Do you have to do chores around your house? What chores do you have to do? Describe them.

Homework

Do you think that people will one day colonize Mars? What would people have to do in order to achieve this goal? What motives would a group of people have to make this goal a reality?

Methods of warfare have changed drastically over the years. Describe how you believe wars were fought during ancient times. Describe how you believe the Civil War was fought. Describe how you believe current wars are being fought.

How much time do you spend at home studying or doing homework? Do you think you should spend more time? Why or why not? Explain your answer.

Day 4

Many new words are created and entered into the dictionary each year. What is a word that you think has been added to the dictionary in the last twenty years? What does this word mean? Why do you consider it to be new?

Imagine you just bought your own private jet. What type of things would the jet have inside of it? Where would you fly it to? Provide a sketch of the jet.

What is your lifetime dream? How could you work to achieve this dream? Describe the neccessary steps.

Day 5

Do you think that it is okay for humans to keep animals in zoo's? Are animals better off in the wild? Why? What are the advantages of zoo's? What are the advantages of the wild?

Bellwork 2

Imagine the United States had never won the Revolutionary War. How do you think our lives would be different if the United States were still controlled by England? Explain.

Think of three types of wild animals that live in your city. Describe each animal. Also, explain how each animal affects people in the city.
