Students will study two pieces of poetry dealing with the devastating effects of the Great Fire in Chicago. Students will analyze each of the poems separately and then complete a contrast activity as well.
Lesson:
1. Read and paraphrase Chicago by John Whittier which discusses life in Chicago after the Great Chicago Fire.
