In this lesson students will be exposed to the different characteristics that make up the Historical Fiction genre. Students will use this information to guide themselves through the lessons found in the third quarter.
Lesson:
1. Read the Historical Fiction PowerPoint which outlines the features of the Historical Fiction Genre.
2. Watch the clip from Monty Python and the Holy Grail and list the elements of fiction and the elements of nonfiction from the clip.
3. In your notebooks, write a brief account of your first day of 8th grade at Barrington Middle School. Be sure to include characters, setting, conflict, plot, descriptions, and even dialogue from that day.
4. Complete the First Day of School Graphic Organizer which analyzes your experience of the first day of school and demonstrates on how this story could eventually fit into the category of Historical Fiction.
