In this lesson students will be focusing on science fiction media in regards to technology. Students will take a look at a clip from the famous 1960's cartoon, "The Jetsons" as well as the 2014 release of the Apple iWatch. After looking at these sources, students will answer the question as whether science fiction does in fact portray a realistic view of technology and its impact on society.
Lesson:
1. Watch "The Jetsons: Family of The Future" and "Apple iWatch Reveal". While you are watching, generate a list of the technologies that are found in the videos.
2. Read "How Much of The Jetsons' Futuristic World Has Become A Reality: 50 Years Later" and ""Apple's iWatch".
3. Complete the Technology of The Jetsons and It's Impact of Society Today Graphic Organizer.
4. Complete the prompt How The Jetsons Predicted The Future (Introductory/Body Paragraph Rough Draft).
5. Class will complete an edit of the paragraphs, and you will make the necessary revisions to hand in a final draft.

Extension:
1. Research a science fiction show of the present. Take notes on all of the different technologies found within the show.
2. Choose one piece of technology from the show and do some research as to if there are any advancements in that technology today.
3. Write an essay describing the technology and how it may impact society in the present or in the future.
