Pierre is a French-Canadian archaeologist and historian, and an old friend of David Martlesham. The investigators bumped into him during their visit to Montreal in 1922 and, since none of them spoke fluent French, he was a valuable asset to the investigation.
The group were forced to leave Montreal after a misunderstanding with the local police (since resolved), and Pierre returned to Boston with them. He is now working at the University, where he supervises two junior researchers. In his spare time he's been reading a rather strange book that he found in a musty Montreal bookshop...
Intrigued by the request out ot the blue to accompany the party to meet Mr Jackson Elias, Pierre acquires a copy of one of Elias' books to read on the train journey to New York. Mr Elias' work may be "populist" rather than academic but seems rooted in facts rather than sensationalism and refers to established historical matters, so in Pierre's eyes the man is welcome to give a guest lecture in his university, but Pierre envies the fact he will almost certainly gather a large adoring crowd if the invitation was accepted, something Pierre is unlikely to ever achieve himself.
Pierre met his demise on Misr Island in Essex, England while the investigators were attempting to stop the rites of the Cult Of The Black Pharoah. Already weakened while defending himself against a club-wielding cultist, Pierre was subjected to the magicks of their sorcerer, Gavigan, and his body was left charred and smoking..
