Penelope Steel

The only daughter of the wealthy financier and banker George Bryant. Pen persuaded daddy to let her go on the Greenland expedition that he was bankrolling in 1923. It was on that trip that she met the investigators and became involved in a case of lost civilisations and ice monsters. Pen not only got a taste for Mythos investigations, but for some inexplicable reason she returned to Boston with her sanity INCREASED. 

During the voyage on the SS Mantola between Suez and Mombasa, Pen married her bodyguard, Bartholomew Steel.

Following their world travels, Pen and Steel enjoyed an extremely delayed honeymoon in Fiji while they waited for Steel's aquaphobia to subside. They returned to Boston in May 1926.

In 1927, while searching for the Sedefkar Simulacrum at the behest of Henry Ethelrod, Pen lost her left eye in a night attack by a group of severed but living hands. As a result, she wore an eye patch which she was planning to replace with a best quality Venetian glass one. However, her missing eye was miraculously restored to her when  she underwent the Ritual of Cleansing from the Scroll of the Left Arm. 

However, all is not rosy for Pen. Possibly as a result of the sanity shattering events that she has been subject to, Sylvia's Ghost is now her constant companion. As a result, she's spending some time in a quiet sanatorium in  England before returning home.
