Fun Facts

The Brewers were 1-6 in bobblehead giveaway games this season.

In the early bobblehead giveaways the Brewers gave away some autographed versions of the giveaway. Ben Sheets and Lyle Overbay are two of the few that I can find evidence to prove this. The only other proof, besides word of mouth, was the 2003 Molitor. The Ben Sheets card I have seems like an original. It is weird it has a large 2004 on it but the date on the bottom does match the date of the Sheets giveaway. The only thing I can think of is the person that made the cards put the wrong date but changed it to 2005 for the Overbay. I think the Overbay ticket I have is a photocopy of the card that came in the box as it is black and white and the Sheets one is in color. But it mostly seems like the cards got turned in to pick up the autographed bobble. Thus, unlike later years when the Miller Lite Deck and Associated Bank Check Deck autographed versions can be proven by keeping the large ticket stub or some come with an MLB authentication hologram, most of these early autographed versions are impossible to prove as authentic.

The sliding Bernie was given away to fans who bought the birthday package at Miller Park. He was given away with the birthday package from about 2005-2009. The 2005 version can be identified by the date on the bottom, and the fact that home plate is a pure white color. Also, the plate is the same size as the 2008 version. In both the 2005 and 2008 versions home plate is slightly larger than the 2009 version. Also, the 2005 is made by BD&A. '08 and '09 are by BDA.

One of the initial prototypes made for the Junior Spivey bobble was totally different than the final version. In the prototype I know of he is standing up and batting. Totally different than his actual SGA...bending over with his glove fielding the ball.

This was the third year the Brewers gave away 3 mini bobbleheads to the first 10,000 children 16 and under through the gates at Miller Park. The fourth bobblehead (Damian Miller) was needed to complete the set and could be picked up at Sentry Food stores for a promotion for buying 2 Dean's Country Charm 56 oz Ice Creams.
