The city of Alicante has a 141.2 kilometer underground rail and tram system which became operational in 1999. The system consists of four lines which are served by seventy five stations.

AIR

Alicante Elche International Airport is served by the #C6 Airbus which uses the N338 coastal road for transfers into Alicante city centre. The bus departs from outside the airport terminal building daily, every twenty minutes between 06.00 hrs and 00.05 hrs.

The journey time into Alicante is around twenty minutes and the bus stops at the Adif Railway Station / Multi Modal Estacion, the Plaza de Luceros for the El Sabio tram stops and the city's Puerto Mar Bus Station.

RAIL

Alicante's inter city Adif Railway Station, located along the city's Avenida de Salamanca. The station is served by several long distance, inter-city rail services, Line 1 and Line 2 of the underground and Line C1 and Line C3 of the city's commuter rail.

BUS

Alicante's Puerto Mar Bus Station, which is located along the city's marina, is served by the underground's line L4.

SPORT

Alicante's Jose Rico Perez Football Stadium can be accessed by way of a twenty minute walk from the city centre or a ten minute bus ride on services #8A or #11.

On match days special soccer buses are laid on from outside Alicante main railway station located on Avenida de Salamanca.

BARCELONA

Barcelona, Catalonia

The city of Barcelona has a 125 kilometer part underground, part ground level, rapid transit system which became operational in 1924. The system consists of eleven lines, three of which are automated (driverless), and all of which are served by one hundred and sixty five stations.

Barcelona is also served by three tram routes, several commuter rail services and six mountain (Funicular) railways.

Barcelona is also served by a three line tram system known as the trambesos. All of the city trams terminate at Placa Francese Maci in the city’s business district. The Port Vell Aerial Tramway, pictured above, travels for 1.3 kilometers and climbs to an elevation of 107 meters. The tramway, which uses gondola lifts, spans the city's harbour and links the the city's Port Vell with the seaside resort of Barceloneta. The tramway is served by three stations located at Miramar on Montjuic - Torre Jaume I - Torre Sant Sebastian.

AIR

Barcelona is served by the Barcelona El Prat International Airport. The airport’s two terminals are linked by way of a free shuttle bus. A commuter rail service, the Line 2 Nord, links the airport's Terminal Two with Barcelona Sants Railway Station, which is further served by it's own metro station on metro Line 3 and line 5.

The airport train runs daily between 06.00 hours and 23.38 hours and the journey time from the airport into Barcelona takes around twenty minutes. The line consists of eight stops at Barcelona El Prat International Airport - El Prat de Llobregat - Bellvitge - Barcelona Sants Railway Station - Passeig de Gracia - El Clot Aragó - Macanet Massanes.

RAIL

Barcelona is served by two inter city railway station.

The Estacio Barcelona Sants located on Placa dels Paiso Catalans in the Sants Montjuic District of the city. The station is served by it's own metro station on Line 3 and Line 5.

The Estacio Catalunya, located on the city's Placa Catalunya, which is served by it's own metro station on Line 1 or Line 3 or from Line 6 and Line 7 which serves the main square.

BUS

Barcelona is served by two inter city bus stations.

One is located adjacent to the Estacio Barcelona Sants railway station, which is served by metro Line 3 and metro Line 5.

The other is the Estacio d'Autobuses Barcelona Nord, located on the city's Carrer d'Ali Bei, which is served by it's own metro station on Line 1.

PORT

Barcalona's port and ferry terminal is located along the city's Las Ramblas and can be accessed by way of the Drassanes metro station located on Line 3. The port, cruise terminal, ferry terminal and yacht marinas are situated over a vast area, so it would probably be better to take a taxi if you are catching a ferry or cruise ship. If you are just walking around the port area or visiting the Maritime Museum then Drassanes metro station is fine.

SPORT

Barcelona is served by two international football clubs.

FC Barcelona which is located at the Estadi Camp Nou, which can be accessed by way of the Palau Reial, Maria Cristina and Les Cortes metro stations situated on line 3 or the Badall and Collblanc metro stations located on line 5. The Maria Cristina station can also be accessed by way of all the Barcelona trams.

RCD Espanyol, which is located at the Estadi Cornella El Prat. This stadium can be accessed by the Cornella Centre metro station located on line 5. The stadium is then a fifteen minute walk away.

SAGREDA FAMILIA

Barcelona’s most popular tourist attraction is the cathedral known as La Sagreda Familia. The cathedral can be accessed by way of the La Sagreda metro station located on line 9 and line 10 of the metro.

BILBAO

Bilbao, Basque.

The city of Bilbao has a 40 kilometer underground, rapid transit system which became operational in 1995. The system consists of two lines which are served by forty one stations, both underground and elevated, with another two lines presently under construction and another two lines in the planning stages. All system signage is displayed in the Basque and Castellano / Spanish languages.

The city is also served by three electric tram lines, a steam railway, a funicular railway, six commuter rail services and three inter-city rail services.

Bilbao is served by the Bilbao International Airport. The airport is served by a shuttle bus service, # A3247, which travels into downtown Bilbao in just twenty minutes. The service operates daily, every thirty minutes between 05.25 hours and 21.55 hours and terminates at the Bilbao Bus Station. The bus station is served by the San Memes metro station located on both lines of the city metro and tram line A / Bilbao Line.

RAIL

Bilbao is served by two major railway stations, they are;

The Bilbao Abando Railway Station which is located along Calle Hurtado de Amezago in the city's Abando District. The station is served by three Cercanias inter-city rail services, metro Line 1 and Line 2 and tram line A / Bilbao Line.

The Bilbao Atxuri Railway Station which is located along Atxuri Street in the city's Ibaiondo District. The station is served by commuter rail lines 1, 1D and 3 and tram line A / Bilbao Line.

BUS

Bilboa's main inter city bus station is situated on the city's Moyua Square right next door to the Bilbao Abando Railway Station. The bus station is served by the San Mames metro station located on both lines of the city metro system and a tram stop on tram line A / Bilbao Line.

SPORT

International football matches hosted in Bilbao are played at the San Mames Football Stadium, which is located right next door to the Bilbao Bus Station.

THE GUGGENHEIM

The Guggenheim Museum, pictured above, is located in the city's Abando district. The museum is easily accessed by way of the Moyla metro station located on metro Line 1 or by way of tram line A / Bilbao Line.

DONOSTIA / SAN SEBASTIAN

Donostia / San Sebastian, Basque.

Using a line which was originally opened in 1912 as part of a regional rail network the Basque country's Donostialdea region has now had the line upgraded to an urban rapid transit system consisting of one 25.4 kilometer line which is served by twenty stations. This new system, which was opened in 2012 and is known as El Topo / The Mole and links the cities of Lasarte Oria and Irun via the coastal town of Donostia, which is also known as San Sebastian.

Spain's capital city Madrid has a 282 kilometer underground, rapid transit system which became operational in 1919, making this metro system both the oldest and largest in Spain and the sixth largest in the world.

The system operates daily between 06.00 hours and 01.00 hours.

The system consists of thirteen lines which are served by two hundred and thirty one stations. The system was updated and extended in 2008 with the implementation of a 28 kilometer light rail, tram system known as the Metro Ligero, which consists of three lines which are served by thirty eight stations.

Madrid's Estacion Sur bus terminal is served by the Mendez Alvaro metro station located on the metro system's Line 6 and sometime in the future by the metro system's Line 8.

Real Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu football stadium is served by it's own metro station located on the metro system's Line 10.

Madrid's Estadio Vincente Calderon football stadium is located a ten minute walk from the Piramides metro station on Line 5.

THE PRADO MUSEUM

Madrid's Prado Museum will be accessed by it's own metro station on Line 8 of the city metro at some point in the future but at present one can walk from the Atocha Railway Station which is also served by it's own metro station on Line 1.

MALAGA

Malaga, Andalusia

The coastal city of Malaga has a 16.5 kilometer rapid transit system which should have become operational at the end of 2011 but was put back until the end of 2014. The system consists of two lines which are served by twenty four stations and the city is planning another six lines.

METRO

Line 1 - 9.8 km - 11 stations at Atarazanas - Guadelmedina - La Union - Barbarela - Carranque - Portada Alta - Ciudad de la Justicia - Universidad - El Consul - Paraninto - Andalucia Tec.

Line 2 - 7 stations at Guadelmedina - La Isla - Princesa - El Torcal - La Luz La Paz - Puerta Blanca - Palacio de las Desportes.

The above two lines connect at the Guadelmedina metro station.

LA MALAGUETA

AIR

Malaga is served by the Malaga International Airport. Located at the airport’s Terminal 3 building is a commuter rail station which is served by Line 1 of the Cercanias service which will take you through to the city’s Maria Zambrano Inter city Railway Station in a journey time of just eight minutes.

Line 1 trains run daily every thirty minutes between 06.00 hours and 00.24 hours into Malaga and daily every thirty minutes through to the resorts of Torremolinas, a journey of ten minutes, Benalmadena, a journey of seventeen minutes, and Fuengirola, a journey of thirty five minutes, between 05.30 hours and 23.45 hours.

The airport station is served by self service ticket machines.

For bus transfers into Malaga services #A, #19 and #M135 also serve the airport’s Terminal 3.

RAIL

Malaga's main inter city railway station is the Maria Zambrano Railway Station located along the city's Paseo de los Tilos. The station provides two local inter-city rail services and is also served by it's own metro station located on line 1 and line 2.

Long distance rail services from Malaga include trains to the cities of Madrid, a journey of about two and half hours, Cordoba, a journey of one hour and Seville, a journey of around two hours.

BUS

Malaga's inter city bus station is the Alameda Principal Bus Station, located along the city's Paseo de los Tilos, right opposite the city's Maria Zambrano Railway Station.

SPORT

International football matches played in Malaga are hosted at the Rosaleda Football Stadium located on the city's Paseo de Martiricos. The stadium can be accessed by way of a ten minute bus ride on services # 2, #17 or #26, all of which can be caught at the Alameda Principal Bus Station which is located opposite the Maria Zambrano Train Station.

PALMA DE MALLORCA

Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca.

The island of Mallorca's capital city Palma has an 17 kilometer underground, rapid transit system which became operational in 2007. The system consists of two lines which are served by eighteen stations. The system operates daily between 06.35 hours and 21.55 hours.

Line M1 - 7.2 km - 9 stations at Plaça d'Espanya Intermodal Station - Jacint Verdaguer - Son Fortesa / Son Costa - Son Fuster Vell - Son Castelló - Gran Via Asima - Camí dels Reis - Son Sardina - (UIB) University of the Balearic Islands.

Line M2 - 8.35 km - 9 stations at Plaça d'Espanya Intermodal Station - Jacint Verdaguer - Son Fortesa / Son Costa - Son Fuster - Verge de Lluc - Pont d'Inca - Pont d'Inca - Nou - Polígon Marratxí - Marratxí.

PALMA HARBOUR

AIR

Palma is served by the Son Sant Joan International Airport. Bus # 1 and # 21 both link the airport with the city centre. These buses can be accessed from outside Terminal 2 and they run daily every fifteen minutes between 06.10 hours and 01.10 hours.

During the Summer months these hours are generally extended.

RAIL

Palma's inter city railway station is the Estacion Intermodal, located on the city's Placa de Espanya. The station provides three inter-city rail services and is also served by it's own metro station on both lines of the city metro.

The station is located opposite the Soller Narrow Gauge Railway which operates between the city of Palma and the village of Soller. This very popular commuter train, which runs daily between 10.10 hours and 19.30 hours during the Summer months and 10.30 hours and 18.00 hours during the Winter months, consists of a 23.3 kilometer track which is served by thirteen stations.

BUS

Palma's inter city bus terminal, the Consorci de Transportes de Mallorca, is located along the city's Carrer Eusebi Estada, situated outside the city's Estacion Intermodal railway station.

SPORT

International football matches played in Palma are hosted at the Iberostar Estadi. The stadium is located in the city's Can Valero District about six kilometers from the city centre.

The stadium can be easily accessed by way of bus # 6 to Can Valero or bus # 8 to Son Roca, both of which can be caught from the city's main bus station near Placa de Espanya.

The journey to the stadium takes around twenty minutes and travelers should disembark at the Son Moix stop.

SEVILLE

Seville, Andalusia

The city of Seville has an 18.2 kilometer underground, rapid transit system which became operational in 2009. At present the system consists of one line which is served by twenty two stations with another three lines currently under construction. The metro operates from 06.30 hours until 23.00 hours from Monday to Saturday and from 07.30 hours until 23.00 hours on Sundays.

Seville is also served by a one line tram system, pictured below, known as the MetroCentro.

METRO

The above two services both connect at the San Bernardo station located along Avenida Eduardo Dato in the Nervion District of the city.

AIR

Seville's San Pablo International Airport is served by an airport shuttle bus, route EA, which takes around forty five minutes to reach the centre of Seville via the Santa Justa Railway Station and the Plaza de Armas Bus Station. The service runs daily, every half an hour between 05.20 hours and 01.15 hours.

From Seville City Centre back to the airport the bus runs daily, every half an hour between 04.30 hours and 00.30 hours.

RAIL

Seville's main inter city railway station is the Santa Justa Railway Station located along the city's Avenida Kansas City. The station provides several local, regional and inter-city rail services but is not served by the city metro.

BUS

Seville's inter city bus station is the Estacion de Autobuses Plaza de Armas located along the city's Puenta del Cristo de la Expiracion. The station is not served by the metro but is served by several local bus services for transfers in and around the city.

SPORT

Seville's international football matches are played at the Estadio de Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. The stadium is accessed by way of a five minute walk from the Nervion metro station.

VALENCIA

Valencia, Valencia

The city of Valencia has a 175.34 kilometer light rail, commuter and urban underground tram and rail system which became operational in 1988. The system consists of six lines which are served by one hundred and sixty nine stations.

All system signage is displayed in both Castellano (Spanish) and Catalan.

The metro operates daily between 05.30 hours and 23.00 hours.

L' HEMISPHERE CINEMA & PLANETARIUM

AIR

Valencia is served by the Manise International Airport. The airport is served by it's own metro station on metro Line 3 and Line 5. These lines link the airport to the Estación del Norte Railway Station, which is served by the Xàtiva metro station. The train runs every eight minutes and takes around twenty minutes. The trains operate daily between 05.29 hours and 23.59 hours and Line 5 also travels on to the Port of Valencia's Maritim Serreria metro station.

Alternatively one can take the airport Metrobus service which departs the airport every twenty five minutes and travels to the city's Plaza de Espana in around forty minutes.

PORT

The Port of Valencia can be accessed by way of the Maritim Serreria metro station located on the metro system's Line 5 and Line 6 or by way of Neptu Station by tram.

RAIL

Valencia has two inter city railway stations.

The Estacio Joaquin Sorrola, located along the city's Carrer de Sant Vicente Martir , and the beautiful Estacio Nord located along the city's Calle Xativa. The two stations are located about a five minute walk from one another and both of them are served by the Xativa metro station located on the metro's Line 3 and Line 5.

BUS

Valencia is served by an inter city bus terminal located along the city's Avenida Menedez Pidal II. The station, which is located near to the city's Turia Riverbed Gardens, is served by both local and national bus services. The terminal's nearest station is the Turia station located on the commuter rail's Line 1.

SPORT

Valencia's international football fixtures are played at the Mestalla Football Stadium which can be accessed by way of the Aragon Station located on the metro's Line 5.
