CANADA

CALGARY

Calgary, Alberta.

The city of Calgary has a 58.5 kilometer long light rail transit, which goes by the name of the CTrain, which became operational in 1981. The system consists of two lines which are served by forty five stations.

AIR

Calgary is served by the Calgary International Airport. The airport is served by a regular bus service, #100, which departs from the airport’s Bus Bay 20, and travels to the McKnight Westwinds CTrain Station on Line 202.

RAIL

Calgary is not served by a regular inter city railway station but has instead a station which serves only the Rocky Mountaineer tour of Canada service. This station is located at the Calgary Tower located along the city’s 9th Avenue SW.

BUS

Calgary’s inter-city (Greyhound) bus station is located along the city’s 16th Avenue SW. The station is not served by the CTrain but is served by several local bus services for transportation in and around the city.

Edmonton, Alberta.

The city of Edmonton has a 20.4 kilometer light rail system which became operational in 1978. The system consists of two lines which are served by twenty five stations with another three lines in the planning stages.

The airport is served by a daily airport shuttle bus, # 747, which departs the airport every thirty minutes between 04.34 hours and 00.00 hours. RAIL

Edmonton is served by the Via Rail Railway Station located along the city's 121st Street. The station is served by the Canadian Via Rail long distance, service which provides three trains a week between the city of Toronto in Ontario and Vancouver in British Columbia.

BUS

The Century Park Transit Center is located along the city's 111 Street and is the home of Edmonton's main bus and long distance coach terminal. The terminal is served by the Century Park metro station located on the Capital Line.

SPORT

Edmonton's premier sports and concert venue is the Commonwealth Stadium, home of the Edmonton Eskimos and FC Edmonton, which can be accessed by the Stadium metro station located on the Capital Line.

Vancouver has a 86.1 kilometer automated rapid transit system known as the Skytrain, which became operational in 1985. The system consists of three lines which are served by forty six stations, with a fourth line presently under construction.

RAIL & BUS

Vancouver is served by the Pacific Central Railway Station located along the city's Station Street.

The station is served by both local and long distance bus services, the Rocky Mountaineer touring train the Canadian Via Rail service and the Cascades international Amtrak service which travels between Vancouver and Eugene in Oregon, USA.

The station is situated adjacent to the Skytrain's Main Street / Science World metro station which is located on the Expo Line.

SPORT

Vancouver's premier sports and concert venue is B.C Place, home of the Vancouver Whitecaps and the B.C Lions. The stadium can be accessed by the Stadium / China Town Station on either the Expo Line or the Millenium Line or by the Yalestown / Roundhouse Station on the Canada Line.

OTTAWA

Ottawa, Ontario.

Canada's capital city Ottawa has an eight kilometer light rail network known as the O - Train which consists of one line which is served by five stations.

Ottawa is also served by several inter-city rail services, known as the Corridor Trains, which travel the 1,150 kilometers between Quebec City and Canada's southernmost city of Windsor. Other major cities along the Corridor Train's route include Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa-Gatineau, Mississauga, Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, St. Catharines, Oshawa, Kingston and Trois-Rivières.

AIR

Ottawa is served by the Macdonald Cartier International Airport. The airport is served by a twenty four hour bus service, # 97, which leaves the airport's Pillar 14 outside the arrivals hall and travels to Bayshire, via several other areas of the city.

RAIL & BUS

Ottawa Railway Station is located along the city's Tremblay Road. The station provides the Corridor Via Rail service which links Quebec City with Windsor.

The station is not served by the OTrain, but there are plans for a station to be opened there in 2017. The station is instead served by the confusingly named Train Station Bus Terminal.

SPORT

Ottawa's premier sports and concert venue is the T.D Place Stadium, home of the Ottawa Redbacks and Ottawa Fury F.C, which is located at Landsdowne Park. This stadium is best accessed by private car or local taxi.

AIR

Toronto is served by the Pearson International Airport. The airport's two terminals are served by an elevated people mover, known as the Link Train, which also connects with the airport's long stay car park, which runs twenty four hours a day and is free to use.

The airport is served by a train station at Terminal 1 which is served by the Union Pearson Express a train service for transfers to Toronto's Union Railway Station. The express departs the airport every fifteen minutes and takes around twenty five minutes to get to Union Station via it's Skywalk, a five hundred meter long, glass domed walkway, which can also be used for accessing the city's Rogers Skydome Stadium and the CNN Tower.

Union Station is served by the Union Subway Station located on the Yong University / Spadina Line.

The Airport Rocket is a bus service which links the airport with Kipling Street metro station on the Bloor Danforth Subway and the Lawrence Street metro station on the Yong University / Spadina Line.

The Airport Rocket runs between 05.30 hours and 02.00 hours on Monday to Saturdays and from 08.15 hours until 02.15 hours on Sundays. Journey time into downtown Toronto is about twenty five minutes.

UNION RAILWAY STATION SKYWALK

Toronto's inter city railway station is the Union Railway Station located along the city's Front Street West. The station provides one international rail service, the Amtrak Maple Leaf service between Toronto and New York City in the U.S.A, the Union Pearson Express airport rail service, seven commuter rail services, the long distance Canadian rail service between Toronto and the city of Vancouver and the Union Subway Station which is located on the metro's Yong University / Spadina Line.

The railway station is also annexed to the Union Street Bus Terminal which provides local, regional and long distance bus services.

SPORT

Toronto's premier sports and events venue is the Rojers Skydome Stadium, home of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Buffalo Bills and Toronto F.C. The stadium can be accessed by way of a short walk from either the Union Street Railway Station, via it's Skywalk which is a five hundred meter long, glass domed walkway, or from St Andrew's Station, both of which are located on the Yonge University / Spadina Line.

Montreal's inter city Central Railway Station / Gare Centrale is located along the city's de la Gauchetiere Street West. The station provides seven Via Rail services, six local commuter rail services and the Via Rail Ocean, long distance rail service to Halifax in Nova Scotia.

The station is also served by Line 2 of the metro system by way of the Bonaventure metro station.

Montreal's Central Station / Gare Centrale is also annexed to the city's Centre Ville Bus Terminal which provides several local and long distance bus services and is also connected to Line 2 of the metro by way of the Lucien L'Allier metro station.

SPORT

The above two lines connect at Santa Domingo's Centro Olimpico Juan Pablo Duarte metro station.

AIR

Santo Domingo is served by the Las Americas International Airport. The airport is served by several taxi companies for transfers into downtown Santo Domingo, the Sansouci cruise terminal on Avenida Espana or the Don Diego ferry terminal on Avenida Francisco. Do remember to agree on a final price with the driver before you start your journey.Journey times to the above are between twenty and thirty minutes.

BUS

Santo Domingo is not served by a railway station but is served by several long distance bus terminals. Bus terminals in Santo Domingo are dependent upon which bus company you are travelling with, therefore there are bus terminals located at the city’s Avenida 27 de Febrero, Avenida Navarro Leopold, Avenida Winston Churchill, Plaza Criolla and Parque Enriquillo.

Local buses and guaguas (shared minivans) are cheap and efficient but only use them if you speak Spanish.

PANAMA

PANAMA CITY

Panama City, Panama.

Panama’s capital city, Panama City, is served by a two line metro system which was opened in 2014.

The system at present consists of one 13.7 kilometer long track which is served by thirteen stations.

Line two, which is presently under construction and due to be completed in 2018, will be twenty three kilometers long and served by sixteen elevated stations located between Feligito and San Miguelito / Tocumen International Airport.

METRO

Line 1 – 13.7 kilometers – 13 stations at Albrook - Curunde - Plaza 5 de Mayo - Loteria - Santo Tomas - Iglesia del Carmen - Aiv Argentina - Fernadez de Cordoba - 12 de Octobre - Pueblo Nuevo - San Miguelito - Pan de Azucar - Los Andes.

Panama City is served by the Tocumen International Airport. The airport is served by airport shuttle buses which can be found by taking a five minute walk after exiting the arrivals hall to the right of the building. The bus journey through to Albrook Bus Station takes around one hour fifteen minutes.

Taxis can be found outside the terminal building and a typical journey into downtown Panama City can take about an hour depending on traffic. Taxi share is also available.

BUS

Panama City's Albrook Bus Terminal is located at the Gran Terminal Nacional de Transport situated in the Panama City suburb of Ancon some fifteen minutes from downtown Panama City. The terminal is part of the Albrook Mall complex, which is the largest shopping mall in central America, which is served by several banks, shops, restaurants, lockers, washroom facilities and even a cinema. The station is served by it's own metro station.

PUERTO RICO

SAN JUAN

San Juan, San Juan.

Puerto Rico's capital city San Juan has a 17.2 kilometer automated rapid transit system known as the Tren Urbano, which became operational in 2004. The system consists of one line which is served by sixteen stations.

17.2 km - 16 stations at Minillas - Sagrado Corazón - Hato Rey - Roosevelt - Domenech - Piñero - Universidad Río Piedras - Río Piedras - Cupey - University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus - San Francisco - Las Lomas - Martínez Nadal - Torrimar - Jardines - Deportivo Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium - Bayamón.

AIR

San Juan is served by the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. The airport is served by several taxi services for transfers into downtown San Juan or the cruise terminal located at San Juan Port, all of which can be found outside the main concourse. Alternatively passengers could use a shared taxi known as a Publico. A publico is a shared mini van, which although may well be very cheap may also be very slow. You may also have to pay extra for your luggage, particularly if you have many bags.

BUS

San Juan is not served by a railway station nor a bus station but there are local bus terminals located at most of the city’s metro stations, the largest of which are situated outside the Bayamon, Martinez Nadal, Rio Piedras and Sagrada Corazon metro stations.
