mcjBBOrient for DS 1,2,3,4

mcjBBOrient is a script for Daz Studio

it reorients any number of billboards so that they constantly face the current camera

if those billboards look like tree cutouts, you get something that looks like a forest

and as your camera moves, the trees turn to maintain the illusion.

Installation

the Zip file is found at the bottom of this page under the name mcjBBOrient.zip

unzip it in your daz content folder

typically this means C:\Program Files\DAZ\Studio\content\

this package contains

a figurenamed 50Trees

the Daz Studio v3.x compatible script mcjBBOrient.dsa

the Daz Studio v1.x compatible script mcjBBOrientDS1.ds

the Daz Studio v2.x compatible script mcjBBOrientDS2.ds

once installed the figure will be in Content/Figures/mcasual

the script will be in Studio/Scripts/mcasual

The other zip file named mcjBBOrientManual contains the

document you are presently reading, it's the manual.

Use

- Load a 50Trees figure ( Content/Figures/mcasual )

the 50Trees figures contains fifty 1 meter by one meter textured planes which we will call "the billboards"

if you want larger trees, you can resize the whole figure or each tree

you may also change the texture/opacity map for each tree

- Launch mcjBBOrient script ( Content/Studio/Scripts/mCasual )

Random Billboard Placement

The section named "Random Billboard Placement" lets you specify an area in meters

the default parameters define a 100 by 100 meters area

Select the 50 trees using the Daz Studio's Scene Tab

if you click on the "Place billboards at random" button, mcjBBOrient

will randomly place the 50 trees in that area.

Orient/Animate Billboards

Select the 50 trees using the Daz Studio's Scene Tab

select a time-range

if you click on the "Orient/Animate Billboards" button

mcjBBOrient will re-orient each billboard so that it faces the current camera,

this will be repeated for each frame of the time range you selected
