1. Compare the following four groups of people Mark outlines in Chapter 7 by filling in the following table.

2. Geographically, where are these things happening, and what is the significance of this? (v. 31, cf. 5:19-20)

3. Why could it be that Jesus heals the man in this strange way? (vv. 33-34)

4. What measures does Jesus take to keep the healing a secret, and why?

5. What is the significance of the people's response to this miracle in verse 37? (cf. Isa 35:4-5)

Notes: ‘Ephphatha’—Why does Jesus speak to this man in Aramaic, when he is in gentile country? It is probable that these people from the Decapolis were Jews living among the Gentiles:

Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
