Education Technology in Formal & Non - Formal Education
Learning Links Foundation is implementing the "SCIMA Digital Enhancement & Expore@myworld Programs" in 5 states - Karnataka, Haryana, Andrapradesh, Chandigarh and Tamil Nadu since 2009. Through it’s In School and Community outreach programs the Foundation is reaching out to 8 Nodal schools and 150 outreach Govt schools across India. The program supports technology innovations in the education and social development domains. It leverages emerging technologies to increase collaboration, knowledge-sharing, develops 21st century skills and provides an enriching learning experience to the younger generation
SCIMA Digital Enhancement –In School Progam:
The objective of the SCIMA Digital Enhancement Program is to enhance Science & Math learning among school students through the effective use of ICT and help schools integrate ICT effectively in the teaching and learning process with appropriate pedagogy. This is achieved through the cloud computing solution - ‘Project Aasman’. The solution provides an engaging and interactive medium for the students and teachers to enable teaching-learning in a 21st century environment. Along with knowledge acquisition the platform also provides opportunities for the younger generation to express, collaborate, innovate and learn. The solution includes a platform that aims at multi pronged delivery of lessons, promotion of discussion between students, continuous comprehensive assessment of student progress, self directed learning and opportunities for remedial lessons. The platform also provides professional development for teachers through online courses, forums and resources. The outcomes that the solution aims to achieve are improved academic performance and holistic growth of the students along with enhanced professional competencies of the teachers.
Expore@myworld Program- Community Outreach Program:
The Foundation also provides learning opportunities to the section of society which otherwise would have not been touched. Through the Community Outreach - Explore@myworld Program, the community children are provided with skills and resources that would empower them to succeed in the knowledge economy. The program has been instrumental in helping the Foundation to achieve the goal of bridging the digital divide by providing the learning opportunities across various segments.
Through the nodal schools at each location the Foundation extends the services (infrastructure and training) to neighbourhood communities and Govt schools to engage with them meaningfully. This approach leads to a two-way-learning and sharing – school students understand the needs of rural communities and rural communities gain from becoming part of a learning system extended to them via the school infrastructure facilities. The community children are trained on digital literacy, life skills, values, language/ communication skills, civic education &entrepreneurship. They are also provided with Citizenship Skills and Entrepreneurial Skills.
Through the Civic Education Project, community children are provided space for experiential learning where they explore multiple ways of competent and responsible participation in society. It engages them in monitoring and influencing public policy, while motivating civic participation among members of the community.
The Entrepreneurship Skills for Social Innovation Project aims to develop capacity in the youth that enable them to identify opportunities, address issues at local levels and act as a key agent for economic development.
