Jharkhand Event- Distribution of Tablets for Teachers, for improving student learning levels
A State level event on 'Quality Education', was organized by Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) on 16 January, 2017 in Ranchi. The Honourable Chief Minister, Govt. of Jharkhand, Shri Raghubar Das was the chief guest of the event. In addition to senior government officials of the state, Ms Aradhana Pattanaik(IAS),Education Secretary, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, SPD (JEPC), Dr. Anjlee Prakash, CEO, Learning Links Foundation, and senior officials from other NGOs, were the dignitaries at the event. The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation of Principals, teachers and government officials of Education Department.
The CM officially launched the e-Vidyavahini software, a school monitoring software developed by NIC Jharkhand. For monitoring academic indicators, the e-vidyavahini software has incorporated the CCE EMIS developed by LLF. The CM also distributed Tablets to teachers from LLF project schools. The Tablets are being provided by LLF to facilitate real-time data entry and access to data analytics. The Chief Minster also announced that the government would be investing 25 crores in 2017-18, for providing tablets to all teachers in the state. The tablets will help in the
implementation of e-vidyavahini, with real-time monitoring of academic indicators across multiple levels in the government.
The launch of e-vidyavahini and the announcement to distribute Tablets for all teachers, was a proud moment for LLF. Since 2015-16, LLF has been working with JEPC, to build focus on improving student learning levels, through real-time monitoring of academic indicators and nurturing a culture of data-backed decision making. As a proof of concept, LLF developed the CCE EMIS that provides real-time analysis of class-wise and subject-wise student learning levels. LLF has also been continually engaging with the education department at multiple levels to share the CCE EMIS data on learning levels.
LLF is happy to note the pioneering steps taken by the Govt., towards tech-based school monitoring platforms, utilizing a framework for real-time monitoring and analytics of academic indicators. This is a huge step towards institutionalizing data-backed decision making structures and processes.
As one of the dignitaries mentioned "by providing technology access to teachers and by providing a platform for better monitoring of school-level academic indicators, Jharkhand will soon be on top of the list on student learning levels". And LLF will strive to continue providing technical support to the state government in its efforts to improve the quality of learning and learning levels of its students.
