Tech Girlz coverage on DD Punjab News
Total 514 girl students from Seven schools of both the Districts participated in the workshops conducted by the education specialists Ms. Sheeraz Muzaffar, Ms. Sapna, Mr. Ajit, and Mr. Ashish of Learning Links Foundation, New Delhi. The sessions involved hands on design based activities for the girl students with the overarching aim to kindle the spirit of exploration, spurring creativity, spirit of innovation & scientific temperament and developing early critical thinking and reasoning skills, and enhance later interest in STEM study.
Through this workshop the students learnt about basics of electricity by making simple paper circuits, LED Glow Pens and LED Wearable. They were also oriented on the conservation and efficient use of energy resources. The students also explored the basic chemistry about polymers and examples of polymers in everyday life by creating a bouncy ball through Borax solution and synthetic gum. The activities were thoroughly enjoyed by the students and the teachers of the school. During the workshop the students were also motivated by Mr Jagtar Singh (Deputy Director) and Dr Anand Gupta from State Institute of Science Education to grasp a deeper understanding of how to apply their knowledge in a meaningful way by doing, experimenting and understanding the wonders of Science.
