Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams 3-07 St. Patricks 0-12
Our Junior Footballers left it late to secure a dramatic victory in yesterday’s County Semi Final in Bansha.
St. Patricks got off to a good start scoring the first three points. Kickhams responded with the next 1-3, the goal coming from an Elliot Thompson free which came back off the upright and fell Joe O'Dwyer's way and he duly finished to the back off the net. St. Patricks responded with two points off their own to leave just one point between the sides at half-time.
St. Patricks levelled the game early on in the second half but Kickhams pushed on and scored the next three points to once again put three between the sides. The game for the next ten minutes entered a small lull with both sides sharing a point a piece. St. Patricks would then score the next four points to put them ahead by the minimum approaching injury time. Kickhams didn't panic and the ball found it's way to full forward Conor O'Mahony who finished the ball to the net to the delight from the Kickham crowd. St. Patricks would pile on the pressure and got the score down to one. They pushed again with all 15 players but Kickhams stood strong and regained possession, the ball was worked very well to Conor Horgan who produced a lovely finish to an empty net and secured the victory for Kickhams.
Our Juniors will now contest the County Final in two weeks time vs Kiladangan.
