Junior (B) Hurling.

Our Junior (B) hurlers played Rosegreen in Golden on Sunday last. It was very disappointing for all concerned with the team that some of our players did not turn up on the day despite promises

galore that they would be there. The lads that did turn up tried their very best against what is Rosegreens number one team and went very close to pulling off the victory , however they were

beaten in the end on the score Kickhams 3-4 Rosegreen 3-9. This defeat has landed us into a three way playoff with Clonoulty/Rossmore and Golden/Kilfeacle for the last semifinal place. We thank

the lads who togged out and we would ask those that were not there to please make the effort and make themselves available for future games and training.

Best of luck Brian.

We wish clubman Brian Horgan, his fellow selectors and the County Minor Hurling team the very best of luck on Sunday next in the replay of the All Ireland minor final against a strong Dublin outfit. Hopefully our lads can finish the job and emerge victorious.

JUVENILE GAA.

U/16 (B) Hurling Co. Semifinal.

The Co. U16 Hurling Semi-Final took place in NewInn on Saturday 22nd between Knockavilla /Donaskeigh Kickhams from the West and Loughmore/Castleiney from the Mid. The game started brightly for Kickhams with a quick goal from Ger Browne. Loughmore hit back quickly with a goal but Kickhams kept themselves well in the game with 2 points from Ger Browne and 3 points from Brendan Ryan and Killian Loughman a point. Loughmore then got in for their second goal to make the half-time score Kickhams 1-06 Loughmore 2-02.The second half started with Loughmore adding on the points, putting the Kickhams under severe pressure. Going into the final five minutes Loughmore were ahead by four points. Kickhams fought back with 2 goals by Brendan Ryan and in the very last moments a goal from Joe Griffey sealed a great victory for the Kickhams on a scoreline of 4-10 to 2-13. Great credit must be given to both teams and selectors for a great game of hurling. Kickhams had great displays throughout the whole team with Padraig O Carroll and Killian O Meara leading the defence, Brendan Ryan spearheading the attack from mid-field and Killian Loughman and Ger Browne were a constant threat in the forward line for the Kickhams. The team as a whole gave everything, never gave up when the game looked over and fought to the end.
