Description
The EX 9200 is Junipers Core Chassis.
It is based on the successful MX platform
It doesn't have PoE.

Models and part numbers
Currently Juniper is releasing a new Fabric called EX9200-SF2
This fabric offers more throughput per slot.
So the part numbers with a 3 will include that fabric.
You can mix and match but you should have all EX9200-SF2 in order to gain the performance.
The BASE has 1 routing engine.
The REDUNDANT has 2 routing engines and 2 Switch fabrics {in the case of the EX9214 it has 3}
These are the old part numbers, they will be phased out and should only be used with approval.
these numbers are VERY similar and VERY confusing so pay attention.
DC powered.
The same can be done with a DC power supply.
These are the new DC Chassis.

TAA - Trade Agreement Act
There are no TAA models
When you sell to the USA government in a contract over the sum of $194,000 the products must comply with TAA. This means they are
mostly produced or modified in the USA or a country that has a reciprocal trade agreement with the USA.
{China and most notable electronic makers are absent }
Notice, when selling to the government of the USA you MUST use TAA.
SLOTS
For all intensive purposes the Chassis are
9204 two slots
9208 six slots
9214 eleven slots.
This is not fully accurate as you can remove a routing engine and put a card in that slot
however that would negate the real value of the Chassis which is high availability using redundant routing engines.
So I would recommend sticking to the above numbers.
The line cards that can be used today are.
By default you get the blank faceplates which are not available to order if you lose them.
The Chassis support having a redundant routing engine.
EX 9204 and EX 9208 can have 2 switch fabrics with 2 routing engines in them.
EX 9214 can have 3 switch fabrics with 2 routing engines.
The blank is
The Chassis can have switch fabrics.
The new one is.
The old one is
EX9200-SF2
EX9200-SF
EX9200-RE-BLANK
EX9200-RE
EX9200-LC-SF-BLANK
EX9200 Switch Fabric Module
EX9200 Switch Fabric 2 Module
EX9200 RE blank cover panel, spare
EX9200 Routing Engine: Quad Core 1800Ghz with 16G Memory
EX9200 line card, switch fabric blank cover panel, spare
SF2 should be able to reach up to 480 Gbps in the future with the enhanced NG line cards.
So sell the SF2.
Layer 3 routing protocols support
Each of these switches can be upgraded to support Layer 3 routing protocols
The upgrade price depends on the Chassis size

EX9204 Advanced Feature License
EX9208 Advanced Feature License
EX9214 Advanced Feature License
To use the following features on EX3200, EX4200, EX4500, EX4550, EX8200, and EX9200 switches, you must install an advanced feature license (AFL):
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and multiprotocol BGP (MBGP)
Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS)
IPv6 routing protocols: IS-IS for IPv6, IPv6 BGP, IPv6 for MBGP
Logical systems (available only on EX9200 switches)
MPLS with RSVP-based label-switched paths (LSPs) and MPLS-based circuit cross-connects (CCCs) (Not supported on EX9200 switches)
http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos13.2/topics/concept/ex-series-software-licenses-overview.html
To get an AFL license please provide the Serial number of the switch.
show chassis hardware
then reach out to your representative, if you don't have one let me know.
They will be able to generate the required license.
Power Cords
This switch draws a lot of power as it powers a Chassis
The power cord is C19....
the other side will depend on the country.
If you need a different length or if you come from a country not on this list.
You can use a third party cable. We can provide this.
*By default the switch comes with 1 cable per power supply for the country it is being sold to in a bundle.
Mounting the switch.
It is unclear.
Currently there is no RACK mount kit for 4 posts.
Juniper offers the
Extended cable management for the EX9214 only
ECM-MX960
My guess is you can use the Cable management parts for the MX480 and MX240 for the EX9208 and 9204 but
we would need to ask Juniper.
Ports.
The EX9214
EX 9214 back
the Switch Fabric has a hole in the middle and into that hole you place the routing engine.
Optics
Supported SFPs are
1 Gbps optics.
T is copper
SX is multimode
For singlemode ask for the distance to verify which one.
100 speed optics also called FE
EX-SFP-1FE-FX
EX-SFP-1FE-LX
EX-SFP-1FE-LX40K
SFP 100Base-FX Fast Optics, 1310nm for 2km transmission on MMF
SFP 100base-LX Fast Optics, 1310nm for 10km transmission on SMF
SFP FE 100base-LX Fast Optics, 1550nm for 40km transmission on SMF
These are mainly for backward compatibility to very old devices.
CWDM optics
CWDM allows you to use eight active wavelengths. So basically 8 people can send on the same fiber cable.
Each of the above works in one wavelength and the other side must have the same optic wavelength.
Single Strand
Single strand allows a client to get 1 Gbps of traffic on a single fiber cable.
So for example if the client has 1 Fiber cable
He can double the throughput he can run on it by using single strand technology.
So instead of 1Gbps of traffic, he can run 2Gbps. Blue will be receive and red will be send.
Anyway, I doubt many people are smart enough to use this and both sides must support the SFP technology.
QSFP+ cables
*** technically not supported yet, however they work
QSFP+ optics
QFX-QSFP-40G-SR4
QFX-QSFP-40G-ESR4
JNP-QSFP-40G-LR4
