EX-4550
Description
This is an excellent modular switch and is a 10G data center grade switch.
It has modular uplinks {1 or 10G}
Everything is field replaceable.
It runs Virtual Chassis using either the proprietary stacking ports or QSFP+ ports.
Redundant power
Reversible airflow.

EX 4550, 32-port 1/10G SFP+, 650W AC PS
EX 4550, 32-port 100M/1G/10G BaseT, 650W AC PS
Simple enough,
32 ports of SFP+
32 ports of RJ-45 copper that run 1000/10000 speeds.
AFO air flow out. The air flows OUT of the power supply.
Since these are datacenter switches, some clients might want the airflow reversed.
In that case you will be selling the AFI air flow in.

EX4550-32T-AFI
EX 4550, 32-port 1/10G SFP+, 650W AC PS
EX 4550, 32-port 100M/1G/10G BaseT, 650W AC PS
Notice the air is flowing IN to the power supply, so AFI
DC powered.
The same can be done with a DC power supply.

These are the same but TAA,

AFO airflow OUT or front to back as we used to call it.

EX 4550, 32-port 1/10G SFP+, 650W DC PS
When you sell to the USA government in a contract over the sum of $194,000 the products must comply with TAA. This means they are
mostly produced or modified in the USA or a country that has a reciprocal trade agreement with the USA.
{China and most notable electronic makers are absent }
So basically, the parts are the same parts as a regular EX3300 but it is assembled in the USA, this will add 20% or less to the cost of each item.
Notice, when selling to the government of the USA you MUST use TAA.
Uplinks and Virtual Chassis
On the left you have a slot for a module.
EX4550-AFL
In the back you also have a slot for a module.
They are both the same slot, so you can avoid using it.
Use one or use both.
The modules that can be used are.
By default you get the blank faceplates which are not available to order if you lose them.
VC is used for virtual chassis with the EX4200 and EX4500 using the proprietary cables.
Layer 3 routing protocols support
Each of these switches can be upgraded to support Layer 3 routing protocols {except for BGP}
Each of these switches can be upgraded to support Layer 3.
Features Requiring a License on EX3200, EX4200, EX4500, EX4550, EX6200, EX8200, and EX9200 Switches
To use the following features on EX3200, EX4200, EX4500, EX4550, EX8200, and EX9200 switches, you must install an advanced feature license (AFL):
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and multiprotocol BGP (MBGP)
Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS)
IPv6 routing protocols: IS-IS for IPv6, IPv6 BGP, IPv6 for MBGP
Logical systems (available only on EX9200 switches)
MPLS with RSVP-based label-switched paths (LSPs) and MPLS-based circuit cross-connects (CCCs) (Not supported on EX9200 switches)
To use the following features on Juniper Networks EX6200 Ethernet Switches, you must install an advanced feature license (AFL):
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS)
IPv6 routing protocols: IS-IS for IPv6, IPv6 BGP

To get an AFL license please provide the Serial number of the switch.
show chassis hardware
then reach out to your representative, if you don't have one let me know.
They will be able to generate the required license.
Power Cords
EX4550 Advanced feature license for IS-IS, BGP and MPLS
These power cords are pretty simple.
They are C13 on one side.
the other side will depend on the country.
If you need a different length or if you come from a country not on this list.
You can use a third party cable. We can provide this.
*By default the switch comes with 1 cable for the country it is being sold to.

Optics
Supported SFPs are
I've arranged this by the chances of someone ordering them
1 Gbps optics.
T is copper
SX is multimode
For singlemode ask for the distance to verify which one.
100 speed optics also called FE
EX-SFP-1FE-FX
EX-SFP-1FE-LX
EX-SFP-1FE-LX40K
SFP 100Base-FX Fast Optics, 1310nm for 2km transmission on MMF
SFP 100base-LX Fast Optics, 1310nm for 10km transmission on SMF
SFP FE 100base-LX Fast Optics, 1550nm for 40km transmission on SMF
These are mainly for backward compatibility to very old devices.
CWDM optics
CWDM allows you to use eight active wavelengths. So basically 8 people can send on the same fiber cable.
Each of the above works in one wavelength and the other side must have the same optic wavelength.
Single Strand
Single strand allows a client to get 1 Gbps of traffic on a single fiber cable.
So for example if the client has 1 Fiber cable
He can double the throughput he can run on it by using single strand technology.
So instead of 1Gbps of traffic, he can run 2Gbps. Blue will be receive and red will be send.
Anyway, I doubt many people are smart enough to use this and both sides must support the SFP technology.
QSFP+ cables
QSFP+ optics
QFX-QSFP-40G-SR4
QFX-QSFP-40G-ESR4
JNP-QSFP-40G-LR4
QSFP+ 40GBase-SR4 40 Gigabit Optics, 850nm for up to 150m transmission on MMF
QSFP+ 40GBase-ESR4 40 Gigabit Optic. 300m(400m) with OM3(OM4) MMF
QSFP+ 40GBase-LR4 40 Gigabit Optics, 1310nm for up to 10km Transmission on SMF
There is a USB port.
The USB port supports 1G , 2G ,4G
RE-USB-1G-S
RE-USB-2G-S
RE-USB-4G-S
USB media upgrade/spare for RE
2GB USB media upgrade/spare for RE
4GB USB media upgrade/spare for RE
Odd things.
Apparently there is a license to enable MACSEC
