Kevin Barney, “The Murder of Zacharias,” ByCommonConsent.com, 11 October 2006. Barney comments on the obscure comment from Jesus in Matthew 23:35 and the common belief among Latter-day Saints that “Zacharias son of Barachias” was the father of John the Baptist.
- Eschatology is the Christian theology of the “last days” (ἔσχατον, eschaton). Major eschatological texts in the Bible include parts of Isaiah and Ezekiel, Daniel chapters 7–12, Matthew 24, and the book of Revelation. Wikipedia’s article on “Christian eschatology” has a good overview of the various approaches to end-times prophecy held among the many branches of Christianity. (Latter-day Saints are most closely aligned with Dispensationalists.)
