Beliefs

My beliefs change as I learn and grow. Here is what I hold as truth as of 12/8/2018.

  • I believe the best partners are those who understand you when you speak and whom you understand when they speak all the while enjoying the company of each other and holding similar but not always identical views.

  • Seek after wisdom and what you'll find is the means by which to find your life.

  • Democracy among the masses will always yield average results. This may be preferable to any alternative--just raise the average.

  • For everything I've believed, there appears to be a counterbalancing "but" to accompany it.

  • Rules are necessary for the masses yet often encourage repetitious behavior, false sense of entitlement, and inability to think for oneself.

  • Love is not a belief nor an action--it is a feeling toward someone or something that expresses in actions often including joy.

  • Love embodies concern for others that transcends written laws by diligently seeking what is best in all situations without blind adherence to rules.

  • All people should be treated civilly, not equally.

  • Fair does not mean equal, it means considering many things.

  • A fair inequality prescribes that whoever has much should be expected to do much more than he who has little.

  • One should treat others as they wish to be treated, not merely as others treat them.

  • Emotion in communication is rarely useful except when manipulating others which is also less useful than one might expect.

  • It's okay to let someone be wrong if they want to be unless it is harming others.

  • Intelligence needs to be incorporated into government, but so does character and wisdom to accompany it.

  • One quick way to start a fight is to tell someone they 'always' do something you dislike.

  • Women aren't men and they shouldn't want to be. We should celebrate our unique differences and neither should dominate the other.

  • What you do with your privates is a private matter, not a moral matter unless you're harming others.

  • Righteousness means doing what is right as you truly understand it.

  • The fundamental core of Christianity is what Jesus calls the Antichrist.

  • Jesus did not die for anyone; he died because he spoke against doing evil and desiring morality rather than beliefs and rituals.

  • If your god is good, then think for yourself what is good and do that. A good god could expect no more.

  • Serve only the character of your God and you will truly serve your God. Anything else is a trick.

  • Our minds have the power to make us sick and to likewise undo any sickness it derived.

  • It is immoral to harm another for purposes of gain and/or pleasure.

  • Justice is to cultivate change in a guilty person by considering him individually and thoughtfully--not simply punishment.

  • Justice includes removing criminals from society that do not wish to improve toward doing what is good.

  • A judge should judge character and growth as opposed to mere actions which stem from them.

  • We must judge others, but with accuracy and followed with appropriate responses.

  • Even 'Thou Shalt Not Kill" cannot be upheld as a rule, but only on a moral basis given the circumstances.

  • Learning should be free for everyone who wishes to learn.

  • We should encourage others in their pursuits if they are not harmful pursuits.

  • It is rude to treat others as if they have nothing to offer you and are thus not worth your time.

  • Deeper relationships are key to a moral and thoughtful society.
