About the Teacher

I have been teaching in School District 43 since 2005. I have been fortunate enough to have many diverse experiences teaching grades from K - 12 in schools all across the district. My specialty background areas include French Immersion and ICT.

I was born and raised in Port Coquitlam and graduated from Terry Fox Secondary after spending earlier years at Mary Hill Junior (now Pitt River Middle) and Irvine Elementary.

I graduated from Simon Fraser University where I also completed my Bachelor of Education. My major was in curriculum development. I recently completed my Master's degree from SFU, specializing in Educational Technology and Learning Design.

In 2006 I moved to London, England where I taught at a variety of schools throughout the inner-city. These experiences where very interesting and made me truly appreciate how fortunate we are here in British Columbia to have such a wonderful and well-organized provincial school system.

I am currently teaching at Pinetree Secondary School in Coquitlam, BC. My focus is in the ICT / Business Education department. My passion is based around 21st century learning techniques and incorporating educational technology into the classroom. Pinetree is an amazing school with some of the brightest and most gifted students I have ever worked with.

Some of my hobbies include kayaking, graphic design, and digital music composition. I also love to travel and have been to some amazing places including Africa, and South America, and most recently China to teach a high school Summer program in Fuyang, a town about 1 hr east of Shanghai.
