Student-teacher collaborative learning: Top-down and bottom-up approach
Student-to-student interaction with slight assistance from teacher
Assistance in the form of prompts and cues
Students should be encouraged to use academic language
Language is only understood when produced
Students must actively be engaged in using new vocabulary for deeper understanding to take place
This is true for both ESL and academic language
This should not be considered quiet time
For learning to take place students need to be actively engaged
A good classroom management plan is important
