Learning centers
In independent learning centers, students are able to rotate through different areas and complete various tasks. The teacher acts as facilitator as students work. Students are independent in the completion of their tasks and often can work at their own pace. Here is a good example of an independent learning center in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94cmgLBEdSE
Another example of a learning center in action is shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSJ5LwAXxLk
The students can learn through games, intrinsically motivating them to learn. In this video, the teacher monitors and records student progress.
Also, it is clear from these videos that this method is not always used, but is employed within a range of other approaches, such as direct and indirect instruction.
