There is a tale that has been told by the people of Gartcosh about the Ghost of Woodneuk House.
You can decide for yourself whether to believe it. Many are, however, very wary when visiting the Bluebell woods.
Located at junction 2A on M73 (North) look to the right and you will see some trees.
This is where ''The Grey Lady'' is said to roam!
.
Many years ago there stood a large Mansion called Woodneuk House, the ruins are still there today surrounded by oak and beech trees. Residing in the house were a couple who lived a hermit's life with almost no contact with the outside world. They were self sufficient with their own livestock and a large walled orchard.
Legend has it the old Lady died and her husband buried her in the Bluebell Woods. One day a brave villager visited the house to find it empty! He ventured into the woods and found two graves side by side.
Who buried the old man?
Was it his wife?........... The "Grey Lady" ghost?
From that day on many villagers claim to have seen "The Grey Lady". She is dressed in grey Victorian garb holding her right index finger to her lips, shaking her head and speaking in an eerie voice, "DON'T EAT THE MUSHROOMS!"
Was this is how she died?
All the sightings of "The Grey Lady" have been either at full moon or on Hallowe'en night.

Our "Grey Lady Ghost" is a frightening sight!
When there's a full moon or Halloween night
With the moon shining bright
She appears in the shimmering light
Only the brave will remain and have a story to tell
The rest of us cowards will run like H***

and there's more...........
At 8.00 pm on 2nd June 2011 during a History Group "Walk & Talk" a visitor from Moodiesburn spoke to a lady wearing a high necked white blouse and long grey dress and smelling of "pigs". when asked who she was she replied "Edith" and put her finger to her lips and said "shush" then walked away in the direction of the Woodneuk House site. No one else saw this lady even though there were 15 other people on the walk. The woman visitor had never heard of the Grey Lady Ghost until we told her later that night. Her husband said that this was not unusual as his wife had often seen strange things like this. Scary!!!!!!
