Since the centenary, the village has continued to grow and a recent review of primary education has revealed that the present building no longer can accommodate the rising role due to the influx of new residents and increased house building in the local area.
"Land release and housebuilding on this scale has not occurred in North Lanarkshire for many years and will have a significant impact". Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser (17-06-2015) quoting from NLC Learning & Leisure Committee Meeting.
The school has a hut to provide extra accommodation and, with no further space available to extend the school it is anticipated that an alternative site will be required to cater for the projected numbers of 421 into the next decade.
