Woodneuk House was situated on a site now part of Gartcosh Nature Reserve.
It was occupied be John and Isabella Hurll in the 19th century. John Hurll is reputed to have come from Ireland around 1835 to work for the Garnkirk Coal Company and by the 1851 census, he was described as " brickyard operations manager". With John Young he established the fireclay business of Hurll, Young & Co.
It appears from research and old maps that the house wasn't always called Woodneuk ...... as can be seen here Queensbank was also used. Whether or not it was the same building the Hurlls lived in we do not know.
