Anne Lowe's hill was the hill going from Gartcosh to Mount Ellen. It was named this because a lady
called Anne Lowe had a shop at the top of the hill.
When I was a teenager in the 70's I got the bus to school at the top of the other hill where the Co-op was, and as kids
we could see Anne Lowe's Hill and we would all stand and look to see how much snow was on Anne Lowe's Hill and debate whether the school bus would get up it.
When we got on the bus and it tried to make it up the hill a great roar would go up in the bus as the bus slid down the hill - it meant we were having a day off school,
The rest of the day we would watch as cars and vans tried to get up the hill, sliding and turning a full 360 degrees sometimes and if someone made it we would cheer.
