The above photograph shows the site of the former cricket pavilion taken in the mid 1950's.

Cricket was an extremely popular sport reflecting Gartcosh - "the English Village "!

Colville's Magazine in their "Gartcosh Gossip" section boasts of a new cricket pitch being " in an advanced stage of completion and should be in order for the opening of the season." (April 1922).

Although those browsing the Coronation Celebration page might, actually, be surprised ....... cricket was taken seriously as these well- kitted villagers demonstrate in these pictures.
