20-23 April The Cape Howe Wilderness Zone & lost cairns of the Black Allan Line (CNP) – M/R, X
This trip has it all, taking in the cool reaches of the Wallagaraugh River, the forested ridges of Mt Carlyle, the coastal heath of Howe Hill and the expansive sand dunes of Cape Howe. For more info on the area see: http://pointhicks.com.au/croajingolong_park_notes.pdf
Day 1: On the way to the park we’ll stop briefly at the Wallagaraugh River and search for three Black-Allan Line cairns, then travel southwards to the Howe Range Track. Day 2: We’ll walk off track to Mt Carlyle, then down Howe Hill to camp next to the freshwaters of Lake Barracoota. Day 3: We’ll walk along the beach to Cape Howe, returning to camp at Lake Barracoota. Day 4: We’ll travel along the beach and take a footpad into Howe Flat Track walking along Lakeview Track to the vehicle Map: Genoa 8823-3S, Nadgee 8823-2S, Mallacoota 8822-N, 8823-S (Part) Leader: Karen C.
