As a general statement, too much emphasis is placed on having the right gear and food combination. An enormous amount of effort is placed on buying the lightest gear possible to cut 300grams off your pack weight. The irony is the cheapest and most effective way to reduce weight is to take it off your backside rather than your back.
That said, here are my efforts at getting the combination of gear and food right. Afterall, you can bushwalk reasonably well if you aren't fit or carrying too much gear, but it is a recipe for disaster if you fall into both categories.
