B005 Fire safety ranks

A proposed fire safety ranking system for residential buildings in Hong Kong

Brief:

A field survey was conducted to investigate the fire safety aspect of the residential building in Hong Kong. Key parameters describing existing passive construction of residential buildings and various fire services installation were reviewed. A proposed ranking system concerning the passive building construction and fire services installation was applied to quantify the fire safety level. The ranking system was designed to assess the active and passive fire safety measures installed in residential buildings. It was found that some buildings did not have sufficient fire safety provisions. Different fire safety levels were obtained. Remedial actions for improving fire safety for those building were proposed.
