Develop PAC by PAL. Peace, Acceptance and Courage by Present moment Awareness, attention, acceptance, allowing, and Letting go. PAL is Mindfulness which is present moment awareness with equanimity. Use the conscious Observing mode of mind to wake up the auto pilot mode, to access the autonomic mode. Three modes one mind. Observing, auto pilot, and autonomic modes of the One Mind, all three and unconscious and conscious parts, and ultimate and conventional or conditioned energy sources. The ultimate or unconditioned cannot be separated from the conventional or conditioned.
The Original Mind evolves from the Universal Mind. The original mind becomes highly unconscious and automatic and operates for the most part as the Conditioned Automatic or auto pilot Mind.
The original mind connection to the universal mind can be accessed through its autonomic or self governing functions, by making the observing functional mind conscious, as a kind of conductor or coach.
One way to do this is though mindfulness of breathing, or other form activities such as movement, senses, especially of the mind verbal and visual thoughts and feelings-emotions, and connected body sensations.
We start out as a whole and connected constantly changing individuals. To maintain this we need PAC, peace, acceptance and courage. Conditioning based the misperception or innate ignorance seeing self as separate and independently substantial or whole.
Our Original Mind has unlimited potential, but limited human intelligence, our innate ignorance, misreads reality, perceiving the change and individual differences, as good or bad , based on feeling, good, bad or neutral, about the changes and the difference.
Constant change implies continuity, and individual differences do not imply good or bad, but again a continuum on a perceptual scale, positive, negative or middle-neutral. We misread rather than accept the changing wave like nature of all reality for just what it is, and rather than connecting to its flow, we insist on separateness, individual permanence and its resulting suffering.
The feelings we have from contact cause movement either towards the object, or away from it , causing increasing perception of separateness, lack of feeling whole, lacking and wanting to make up for the misperceived lacking.
Meditation and contemplating on the opposite of ignorance, avoidance and desire helps toward PAC.
This requires an infinite and always caring-knowing, total and complete involvement, an and unconditional giving of awareness, attention, with allowing and accepting that is awareness with equanimity or sustained mindfulness, which is by definition mindfulness based meditation.
Using the 6 F’s of mindfulness applied to breathing is an excellent place to begin the process. The process is the goal and the goal is the process.
Find the breath, focus exclusively on the breathing, feel the breathing sensations, follow the feelings, over and over, and again and again, by floating ones awareness , free of thought processes like, controlling, or changing, or comparing, or expecting, or judging based on positive, negative or neutral feelings, until ones awareness is flowing with the feelings of the breathing sensations. When distracted by anything from this process re-Find the breathing sensations once again, over and over.
Mindfulness of breathing will lead to increasing concentration, which will lead to more and more calm, the calm will lead to equanimity, that is more and more ability to accept, allow, and let go of what is , as it really is, regardless of emotional charge or conditioning from the past, present or future. This will lead to wisdom and compassion, as one returns back to the intrinsic knowing-caring of the original mind realizing oneness lack of separateness, and inter dependence and inter connectedness of the wave like nature of all conditioned reality, and its connection to the ultimate reality and the universal laws of nature.
