Self therapy for the body and mind using breathing , self hypnosis and meditation-Introduction
To get the most out of your treatment you must become your own therapist. Supplement your present physical and psychotherapy with mindfulness based breathing, self hypnosis and meditation.
Proper Breathing: Becoming aware of your breathing and doing it in a helpful manner is the easiest and fastest way to change and improve your mental and physical state, and it becomes a gateway and anchor for self hypnosis and meditation.
Self Hypnosis: All hypnosis is self hypnosis, the hypnotist is just an agent, to get you started, to show you the exercises, you must practice the exercises to get benefits. The hypnotic state is like an intense day dream, but you are in control of the process. It is a relaxed highly focused state, where your mind both the conscious and unconscious parts are more likely to accept suggestions. Breathe properly , get in a relaxed focused state, give yourself helpful suggestions and you are using self hypnosis.
Meditation using mindfulness based breathing takes your self therapy to a new level of intensity power and depth, by allowing you to access more directly and powerfully your unconscious mind. In the process of meditation your concentration will deepen progressively, and as that happens you will become more relaxed and calm, yet simultaneously alert and awake, more aware of your emotions, thoughts and bodily sensations, and how they inter connect, their sources, and how they affect your mental and bodily functioning in yourself , and your relationships with others, in your family, with friends, at work and at play. The meditative process will help you not be driven by forces, but to become aware of the, accept them, allow them to flow freely, and not be seduced into addictions or bad habits just because something feels good, or the be frightened and thus avoid things just because they may feel bad, before you even know whether they may be good or bad for you, and lastly not to ignore the boring or the uninteresting, because of their lack of emotional attractiveness of lack of it, for in what we ignore may be a hidden much to our benefit.
Mindfulness: Breathing becomes the anchor of this self therapy, and mindfulness becomes the stabilizing process powering the breathing, self hypnosis and the meditation. Mindfulness is present moment awareness that accepts any reality for what it is, and allows it wave like nature to proceed and flow without interference from thinking processes and emotional reactions. Mindfulness must be practiced to be understood and to benefit from it, and applying it to breathing is the best place to start. It is also best to understand what mindfulness isn’t. It isn’t thinking, it is not about the past or the future, and it is not about reacting to emotions positive or negative. It is experiencing and feeling, rather than thinking, comparing, judging, expecting, controlling, or interfering in any way, it is all about staying in the present, no going into the past or the future, and it is about accepting and allowing the wavelike nature of reality to unfold, not interfered or changed by reacting to positive , negative or neutral emotions.
Mindfulness Based Breathing: Apply mindfulness to breathing as follows, become aware of your breathing only in the present, no past ,no future, accept each breath , and allow it to unfold, without changing or controlling it in any way, based on emotions, positive, negative or neutral, and don’t think but feel the physical sensations.
In summary feel the physical sensations of the breathing, staying only in the present moment, trying not to control or change the breathing, based on the past or future, or emotional reactions, positive or negative or neutral, just allowing and accepting, as you feel the breathing , over and over , and again and again.
Simply mindfulness applied to breathing is an exercise in awareness and letting go, in the present moment.
Staying in the present moment , and then moment by moment, become aware each breath, allow it to come, allow it to be and allow to go, let each breath come, let it be, and let it go. Here are some initial instructions: ,Instructions on mindfulness based breathing- Part 1
