You can meditate while doing anything, like standing in line, just waiting any where, while walking, driving, running, doing any exercise, eating, etc, etc, and etc. How do you turn any activity into a meditative experience? First pull your self into the present moment by focusing only on what you are doing. Just stay in the present no past no future, just stay in the present. For example when walking, just focus on walking, in the present moment, and then moment by moment, nothing else just the walking. It is normal and to be expected that you will be distracted by something, anything can be a distraction, like thinking, a feeling, some body sensation like a pain or an itch. When this happens notice it, accept it for what it is, and return back to your focus on the walking. The second requirement for meditation is that you don't think about the activity, but experience it ny feeling and sensing it. Don't think about walking, by judging it good or bad, or comparing it with past performance or expecting something from it, or by trying to control or change it to make it better or different, just walk normally like you usually do, but feel it sense the physical movements over an over, and when distracted, notice the distraction, accept it for what it is, and return back to your exclusive ficus of feeling your body walking. The third rule is to make your activity your primary and exclusive focus by dealing with all and any distractions as already discussed. It helpful to follow this formula with any distraction, allow the distraction to come, allow it to be for a while, accepting it for what it is, and then let it go, to return back to your primary focus, in our example, feeling the physical sensations of walking, in the present moment over and over.
