Thanks to all those who came to watch the ceremony and to all those who helped in the organisation.
We were then treated to some Morris Dancing by the Morris Minors - this year accompanied by a tuba to great effect - and a more modern dancing & musical performance from All The Arts.
Our local MP, Bob Neill, and the society's president, Vera Quinn, presented the medals to the retinue. This was followed by the performance of the four traditional May Pole dances (thank you to Elise Bradley and Eve Gilbert for instructing the dancers this year.)
Following a procession along Chislehurst High Street (thank you to the local police for keeping the traffic at bay) led by the fabulous Surrey & Sussex Drum & Bugle Corps And Nick Doolin (the father of this year's May Queen), a Star Wars influenced fancy dress competition saw Darth Vader triumph.
Evie Doolin was crowned the 93rd Chislehurst May Queen, with Millie Bentley this year's prince. The Chislehurst Invite Cub Scouts formed the Guard of Honour, with the 10th Chislehurst Brownies also in attendance.
After a shivering start to Spring, the temperatures finally rose in the days leading up to the May Queen Ceremony on 7 May - securing firm ground for the dancing! A combination of sun, warmth and an ice cream van all contributed to a great spectator turn out.
