How to join

We are always looking for new members of the retinue. As part of the retinue the children enjoy learning how to perform traditional maypole dances; build their confidence to dance in public; work together as a team; and make friends with other children from their community.

The Retinue rehearses once per week from mid-February to May Day, with additional rehearsals immediately prior to the Crowning Ceremony. In addition to the Crowning Ceremony on the first Saturday in May, the children perform at several weekend events during May, June and July.

Children must be at least five years old on Crowning day to join the retinue although names can be added to the waiting list at any age! Priority is given to children who live in Chislehurst. If your son or daughter would like to join please send us your details using the contact us page.
