In the 95th year of the Chislehurst May Queen, Lily Bentley was crowned May Queen, accompanied by her Prince, Alice Jenkins.
It was one of the Sunniest May Queen Crowning Days that we could remember - truly a cloudless sky - and we were rewarded by a large crowd for both the parade from Red Hill Primary School, and for the ceremony itself.
If you have any memories or photos of the Chislehurst May Queen from this year that you would like to share please contact us.
Thanks to everyone who attended and supported, with money, hard labour or applause for making it such a memorable day!
The band of the Surrey & Sussex Drum & Bugle Corps led the parade, which included the 10th Chislehurst Brownies and the Chislehurst Invicta Cub Scouts, who provided the Guard of Honour for the May Queen's Retinue.
Our President, Vera Quinn, presented this year's medals. After the Retinue had performed four traditional May Pole dances, All the Arts performed a more contemporary dance for the May Queen. The Retinue, band, Cub Scouts and Brownies all then retired to Chislehurst Methodist Church for a celebratory tea party.
