After a week of foreboding weather forecasts, the weather gods smiled on Chislehurst and we were granted a rain free (if chilly) day for the 92nd Chislehurst May Queen Crowning Ceremony - the sun was even spotted on a number of occasions
Following a procession to Chislehurst Common, led by the Band of the TS Resolution N.T.C , the day saw Laila Jefferies crowned as the May Queen, with Imogen Mole accompanying her as her prince, following by the retinue performing four traditional maypole dances in front of a large crowd. The May Queen's Guard of Honour was undertaken by Chislehurst Invicta Cub Scouts.
The ceremony saw a large number of entrants to the annual fancy dress competition, with a home made Minion triumphing over some stiff opposition. Following the maypole dances the retinue and the crowd were also entertained by a number of dances from our guests All The Arts, the Funky Chicks and the Morris Minors.
Thanks to everybody who took part in the day and those who attended the ceremony. We hope you will return in 2016.
