Thilde Bagger Terkelsen

I am a PhD Student the computational biology laboratory at the at the Danish Cancer Society Research Center (DCRC). My bachelors degree in biochemistry and masters in bioinformatics from the University of Copenhagen (K

U) has given me a solid understand of both the biological and computational aspects of bioinformatics. I carried out my masters project in the Sandelin group at KU. The topic of my thesis was enhancer usage in inflammatory bowel disease and ever since transcriptomics in relation to disease classification has been one of my core interests. At the DCRC I get to touch upon many different bioinformatic approaches to cancer research spanning from analysis of protein structure to high-throughput transcriptomics, proteomics data and SNPs analyses during one year of Bioinformatician contract.

For my PhD, we are collaborating with the group of Irina Gromova (Genome Integrity Unity) on multi-omics analysis of breast cancer interstitial fluids, integrating patient data from proteomics, glycomics, mRNA and microRNA profiling.

Together with other CBL members, I am also establishing a pipeline for the analyses of RNASEQ and microRNA data from The Cancer Genome Atlas on lung and breast cancer. I enjoy a relaxed and social environment with good colleagues and have been lucky enough to find exactly this at the DCRC.
