Marika Capezzera

I have a strong biological background and I am currently doing my PhD in Medical Genetics. I am carryied out an Erasmus Traineeship at the CBL to deepen and consolidate my theoretical knowledge in big data management and analyses.

During my studies, I focused my attention on the molecular defects underlying cancers, both for diagnosis and research. I am expert in direct sequencing and I have a solid laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology with the ability to perform in silico analysis and databases consulting.

Currently, I work as a PhD student in the UOC Laboratory of Medical Genetics, Sapienza University of Rome - San Camillo-Forlanini Hospital. The aim of my project is to investigate new candidate genes involved in Cutaneus Melanoma susceptibility by NGS experiments.

At CBL, I focused on the bioinformatic analyses of melanoma and Pan cancer data from genomic profiling of cancer patients using repositories freely available through initiatives such as The Cancer Genome Atlas.
