Martin Manak

I am a visiting PhD student at CBL

I finished my master studies at the Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) and then moved to the University of West Bohemia (Pilsen, Czech Republic) for PhD studies. I have a strong background in computer science, computer graphics and computational geometry. My area of interest includes non-linear Voronoi diagrams, which can be used for the analysis of molecular structures, in particular for finding cavities, computing their various properties and for the computation of their visual representation. I also closely cooperate with the Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) on the development of their software tool CAVER Analyst for the visualization and analysis of molecular structures.

Apart from the mutual cooperation, there is a hypothetical boundary between the field of computational biology and the field of computational geometry. I came to CBL to look on the other side and to apply my knowledge of Voronoi diagrams, cavities detection and visualization to the analysis of MD trajectories.
