Elena Papaleo

I am leading the Computational Biology Laboratory (CBL)) at the Danish Cancer Society Research Center (DCRC, Copenhagen, Denmark). I am also Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen.I have a strong background in computational biochemistry and biophysics and its integration with experimental research thanks to my Ph.D. and PostDoctoral studies in Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and Structural Biology. I love to be surrounded by students and young researchers and to learn from each other.I am also visiting researcher at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Department of Biotechnology and Bioscience, Milan, Italy) .

I joined as Management Member of Denmark to the European CostAction NGP-NET (http://ngp-net.bio.unipd.it/) to promote networking and research in the field of non-globular proteins.

In my free time, I also love to keep myself busy as an academic/associate editor for scientific journals (such as PLOS One, PLOS Computational Biology, Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences and PeerJ) and to promote open access initiatives in science.

I have been involved in two projects within the TCGAPanCanAtlas initiative in collaboration with Antonio Colaprico (University of Bruxelles, Belgium).

Past Advisors/Mentors (who I really need to thank to allow me to be the person who I am now and I am not talking about science only, they have been also important life mentors):

Kresten Lindorff-Larsen (University of Copenhagen, Denmark)

Francesco Luigi Gervasio (UCL, London, UK)

Ruth Nussinov (NIH, Frederick, USA)
