Half Dome Cables go up today

The permit reservations opened up two days ago....so you probably still have a good chance to get a permit. But do remember that you need a permit.

If you can't get a permit to climb the cables at Half Dome, do not give up in despair. Instead, take the hike from Tenaya Lake to Cloud's Rest. It is a better hike than Half Dome, and when you get to the top of Cloud's Rest, there will be fewer people. Plus, you'll be looking down on the crowds on top of Half Dome. and have a view of the entire crest of the Sierra.
