Soldering Station and Tip Cleaner
A Homebrewed Soldering Station with Tip Cleaner
The homebrew soldering station shown here is made from a short section of iron channel bar. The soldering iron holder is a spring that was liberated from someone's junk pile.
The tip cleaner is coarse Steel Wool, and it's holder was made up from tinplate (galvanized roof flashing material) from the local DIY store. A tubular form was made by wrapping the tinplate around a conveniently sized bottle. A flat rectangle of tinplate was soldered onto this as the base mounting plate. Pop-Rivets fasten it all together and to the channel iron base.
A coat of black paint finished it off with a professional look.
