Hand Grinder Grease Zerk
You have to lubricate those inexpensive hand grinders
After having the second Hand Grinder fail in less than a year, I decided to fix it so I could lubricate the gear box at needed intervals.
The gearbox is not readily accessible without taking most of the grinder apart. This time I got smarter and drilled & tapped a hole for adding a grease zerk (see pictures). This lets me add grease whenever the grinder gears start to sound like they might be running dry.
I would suggest that you do this first off when you purchase a new hand grinder. That way you can lube it adequately the first time, and at intervals thereafter when it needs it.
It probably doesn't matter much where you put the grease zerk. I chose to put it on the side near the handle.
This added grease fitting allows you to add grease without disassembling the grinder. Hopefully this will result in it getting lubricated when it needs it instead of when you have time to disassemble the unit.
