Aluminium Foil Solder Shield
Soldering Wires To Tiny Close Spaced Connector Pins
Next time you have to solder wires to closely spaced connector pins, try folding a small square of aluminium foil over the adjacent pins to act as a solder shield. Aluminium does not accept solder so you can pull the foil out when done and the pins will be electrically isolated.
To make wider solder barriers between pins, simply use several layers of aluminium foil.
To further enhance isolation between pins after soldering you can thread a strip of paper or flexible plastic between pins to provide even more safety from shorting.
