"Modern Trends and the Growth of the Cults" -- a national conference on the cults and occult presented by Evangelical Ministries to New Religions (EMNR) designed to help Christians be equipped to understand and confront the increasing growth of the cults and new religious movements.

Plenary Session Speakers

  • Dr. Al Mohler - President of The Southern Baptist Seminary, in Louisville. Author of numerous books and articles, including: Evangelical Theology and Karl Barth, Theological Education in the Evangelical Tradition, and, contributor to, The Challenge of Post Modernism.

Session Topic: Post Modernism and Its Impact on Modern Cultism.

  • Dr. Timothy George - President of Beeson Divinity School. Senior Editor of Christianity Today; author of Theology of the Reformers and The New American Commentary on Galatians.

Session Topic: Theological Perspectives That Have Shaped the Rise of the Cults.

  • Dr. Norman Geisler - President of Southern Evangelical Seminary. Best selling author of such books as: When Skeptics Ask, Roman Catholics and Evangelicals, and Is Man the Measure.

Session Topic: The Waning of Christian America and Its Impact on the Growth of the Cults.

  • Dr. Wayne House - Academic Dean and Professor of Theology at Michigan Theological Seminary; Professor -At-Large, Simon Greenleaf University, Schools of Christian Apologetics and Law; author of numerous books including, Charts of Apologetics and Christian Evidences, Houses Guide to the Cults, and Christian Ministries and the Law.

Session Topic: Legal Decisions That Have Encouraged the Growth of the Cults.

  • Dr. Ronald Enroth, Professor of Sociology, Westmont College, Santa Barbara, California. Author of several acclaimed works, including: Youth Brainwashing and Extremist Cults, Churches That Abuse, and The Lure of the Cults.

Session Topic: Sociological Dynamics That Have Shaped the Rise of the Cults.

In addition to the five listed Plenary Sessions, the Conference will include eight Workshop sessions. Each session will include six Workshops of seventy-five minutes. To best serve those attending, we plan to offer a wide range of topics and, to insure you have the maximum opportunity to attend those Workshops which most interest you, several of them will be repeated during other sessions.

Included will be Workshops dealing with the more prominent cults and the New Age Movement, as well as abusive groups and occultism. In addition we will be offering Workshops on religious trends in America involving other world religions, such as Hinduism and Islam. Of particular value will be the several practical workshops offered in areas such as ministry management, fund raising, computer usage in the ministry, etc.
