As we finished editing the content for this issue of What's News, the following change in the national bestseller's status came to light:

"Gone, Perhaps, but Still Chatty" by Alex Witchel -- begins with the notice that "Today is the third Sunday that [James Van Praagh's] "Talking to Heaven: A Medium's Message of Life After Death" (Dutton, 1997) holds the No. 1 slot on the New York Times best-seller list for nonfiction."

Van Praagh is a self-described "spiritual medium, which, he says, means that he has psychic abilities and he is able to communicate with the dead." New York Times, Feb 22 '98, n.p.
