The Elves and the Shoemaker Activities
Imagine you are a shoemaker. Using a scrap of paper, start to sketch your design. Once you are happy with your shoe design, draw and colour it on the special page. Please use coloured pencils for this activity.
You might like to design the shoes for a specific person or purpose. Don't forget to colour the shoes.
Once you have completed your drawing, mount the page onto the sheet of yellow card.
Please keep this activity to give to your teacher for your journal.
Being able to tie your own shoelaces is a skill we all need. We would like you all to decorate the crafty shoes and then practice tying your 'shoes'. If you can already tie your shoelaces, try one of the other ways in the videos below.
Please keep your 'shoes' to give to your teacher for your journal.
Step 1: Choose the tools - textas, paints, coloured pencils, stickers... you will use to decorate/colour your shoes.
Step 2: I used watercolours and started with the inside part where your heel would go.
Step 3: Once the shoes are all coloured, carefully cut them out around the outside black line.
If you have a laminator at home you might like to laminate the shoes now to make them last longer.
Step 4: Ask an adult to use a single hole punch to make the holes for your laces.
An adult can also put the laces into your shoes ready for you to tie the shoelaces.
Step 5: Practice, practice, practice! 😊
Use the sheet of cardboard in your pack to make a cone shape, I traced a very large semicircle, then cut it out and staple.
Cut out the elf ears, taking care not to cut off the rectangular piece on the inside part of the ear. This is the part you will fold, glue and press to the side of the hat.
Once you fold the rectangular piece, cover it with glue.
Press each ear to the sides of your cone hat.
Take a photo wearing your hat.
Design some colourful, new clothes for the Elf. You can use coloured pencils, water colour paints, crayons, textas.
