NOTE TO PARENTS: We have now finished the lessons in our program for the Old Testament. Given that we return to the lessons surrounding Jesus birth at the end of the year for Christmas, we are going to treat that with broad brushstokes now and move on with our New Testament lessons.
The above video gives a quick overview of the Christmas story.

Note to parents:
Disclaimer - there is a part of this video that mentions animals with bones. The section is 1:52-1:55 mins. She does pause before saying 'or ... you', meaning people. Otherwise the rest of the clip is great. At Prep we would remind the children that although animals might have some things similar to people, like bones, we are different to animals. We are made in the image of God.
We advise that you listen to the video first and use your discretion as to whether or not your child watches this clip.
Which creatures were ruining the plant?
Which insects were helping the plant?
In the Bible in Genesis we learn about how God created our amazing world.
v11 Then God said, โLet the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.โ And it was so.
v24 And God said, โLet the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.โ And it was so.

Life Cycle of the Butterfly Craft
You will need the worksheet, some coloured pencils and a pair of scissors.
Carefully colour the arrows and the 4 pictures only.
Ask an adult to cut it like the picture above to make it easier for you to cut each part. Then carefully cut around each circle taking care not to chop off any bits of the caterpillar, butterfly or leaf .
Glue the pieces in the correct order.
Please keep your finished Butterfly Life Cycle in a safe place so your teacher can use it in your journal.
Have a look at each of the pictures and search for the insects.
Butterflies are very interesting creatures. Check out some more fun facts.
Craft
The Very Hungry Caterpillar drawing
This is a following the steps activity. Do each step before going on. You will need to listen to an adult tell you what to do next. You can also look at our sample for help.
We ask that all Prep children complete this activity. Once finished, please keep in a safe place with the Lifecycle activity. Both are to be included in your journal. ๐
Gather the paper and sheet of care. You will also need coloured pencils.
Taking care, begin by drawing the caterpillars head in read. Try not to make it too big or too small. Draw and colour the green eyes then colouyr yellow around each eye.
Draw two purple antennae then add yellow around them like you did on the eyes. Add a green nose. Carefully colour his face red but don't colour over the eyes or nose.
You can add a mouth if you wish. I added a small black smile.
Now draw his body segments. You can draw them straight across or a little curved like I did.
Then add the 6 brown legs.
Now start to colour each segment. You can use a few different shades of green if you like, otherwise one green is fine. I used two greens.
Next step is to add some very small, thin red and blue hairs on top of each part of his body.
Once the drawing is finished, carefully glue it onto the green card.
This is a great game for you to play with your family.
Each person will need a piece of paper and some pencils. You will also need a die. Have fun!
